TLDR: Club funding just got easier — apply by August 1 through the new SGFC
Dear members of the MIT community,
As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting student life at MIT, we are pleased to introduce a new process for funding student organizations for funding all recognized student organizations. This includes ASA-recognized groups, undergraduate and graduate residences, club sports, and others.
Led by the Student Group Funding Council (SGFC<https://engage.mit.edu/sgfc/home/>) and the Student Organizations Working Group, this initiative reflects a broader effort to create a funding system that is transparent, equitable, and accessible to all.
Beginning this fall, all student group funding requests must be submitted through the new Fall 2025 Funding Application<https://engage.mit.edu/SGFC/survey?survey_uid=37364382-0b36-11f0-86f3-0ea371ea8909>, now open to all undergraduate and graduate student organizations.
Key dates
*
Application Deadline: August 1
*
Preliminary Allocations Released: August 15
*
Appeals Period Begins: August 25
*
Final Decisions Shared: September 2
Throughout July, the SGFC has hosted a series of info sessions. Slides<https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1cqFiUlh7tc-VVFNOyaUUgsOA4N-uYM-025bbOcLJ4-o/edit?usp=sharing> will be available for those who were unable to join.
This new process is designed to provide clear timelines and criteria, streamline access to funding, and ensure that all organizations, from long-established cultural groups to newly forming initiatives, have the resources they need to thrive.
We invite all student organizations to participate in this process and reach out with questions or feedback.
Thank you for your continued work to make MIT a vibrant, more fun community. We look forward to supporting your ideas, events, and impact in the year ahead.
Sincerely,
The Student Group Funding Council
