Hi Undergrads,

Happy Black History Month! Check out this calendar of events <https://innovation.mit.edu/event/mit-black-history-month-events-2021/> by MITii as well as the BSU <https://www.instagram.com/mitbsu/> & BGSA <https://www.instagram.com/mitbgsa/> instagrams for more updates & content throughout the month!

Another initiative by MITii aims to have more women and BIPOC founders coming out of MIT to close the gender and Black innovation gaps. One way they're immediately taking action is by highlighting Black enterprises/ventures that are MIT affiliated. If you know of any, please add them to this list <https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/10VwqfqSolV0E9mjgBotr97U-Jp7MK1yjoxbhLUABu7s/edit#gid=1524211299%C2%A0>!

Our first UA Council meeting will be held this Thursday from 9-10 PM ET at this zoom link <https://mit.zoom.us/j/94848054203>. Council meetings are always open to undergrads & are a great opportunity to make your voice heard! Council is the primary representative body of the UA & is responsible for collecting student input on a variety of issues.

As MIT Medical gets ready to distribute the COVID-19 vaccine to the MIT community, we have a part to play by registering for the COVID-19 vaccine at covidvaccine.mit.edu <http://o6os.mj.am/lnk/AG4AAGIzEj0AAcvBZ3oAAGXH5qwAAYCrmJwAJOnRAATIvQBgGtt9DTFE_7hJQ5iIVzeVbQl4mAAEleU/3/1Y6MV0cXns8gI4RgoA7asg/aHR0cHM6Ly9jb3ZpZHZhY2NpbmUubWl0LmVkdQ>. Whether or not you are interested in being vaccinated by MIT, it is essential that you fill out this form right away so MIT can plan for on-campus vaccinations and request appropriate quantities of the vaccine.

The Byte is a biweekly UA newsletter to inform undergraduates about what's happening in the MIT community.

The Byte is run by the UA which works to improve your undergraduate experience through policy, projects, and events. We're always happy to listen to your suggestions, concerns, and comments. Learn more at ua.mit.edu <http://ua.mit.edu/>.

In celebration of Charles Darwin Day 2021, the Secular Society of MIT presents a special panel discussion by three passionate evolution theory proponents. Each produces educational videos on their channels, and participates in public debates, arguing for the science of evolution and common descent of all life, holding the line against a creationist movement that is (ironically) evolving new techniques to prop up creationism before the advances of scientific discovery and the information age.

Panelist opening statements followed by discussion and audience Q&A. Free and open to the public.
