Announcement: Student Forum tonight, Friday, July 10th at 8 PM ET.

Dear Undergraduates,

This past week, our community has undergone a number of difficult announcements<https://mit.us16.list-manage.com/track/click?u=0cb9f68f0bc51d0385e5d8872&id=3edc1a7d8c&e=b65712b0ab>, many of which seemed outside the realm of possibility. From the despicable national policies targeting international students, to the financial aid decisions affecting low-income students, and the disappointing severance of traditional aspects of the campus community more broadly, members of our community from a variety of backgrounds are experiencing injustice.

We must continuously strive to ensure that each member of our community feels like they belong. When 10 percent of our undergraduate population is persecuted by the national government, we must take a stand. We stand in solidarity with the international student community and promise to continue amplifying your voices to ensure transparency in MIT's response. In doing so, we are working closely with both MIT's General Counsel and several student leaders to ensure that undergraduates are being updated throughout this lawsuit<https://mit.us16.list-manage.com/track/click?u=0cb9f68f0bc51d0385e5d8872&id=f656c4220a&e=b65712b0ab> and playing a role when possible.

Additionally, we are committed to advocating alongside the over 35 percent of the student body that are affected by the decrease in room and board refunds. The UA is working closely with several student groups as we begin discussions with the administration. On Friday (tonight), July 10th at 8 PM ET, the UA will be holding a forum<https://mit.us16.list-manage.com/track/click?u=0cb9f68f0bc51d0385e5d8872&id=258b2622bd&e=b65712b0ab> in conjunction with Dormcon, IFC, Panhel and the 2021 Class Council. The closure of FSILG buildings, cancellation of Varsity sports, and postponement of campus events were especially disheartening to hear as they all play a huge role in the typical MIT experience. Tonight, we look forward to engaging with you all on these important topics as we garner community feedback to become informed advocates. Please attend and publicize the opportunity to others.
