Hello Undergrads!

We wanted to give some quick updates regarding MIT’s work surrounding COVID-19.

1. Pulse survey - Vice Chancellor Ian Waitz recently sent out a community pulse survey <https://mit.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0AjTRkrhq1OXHkV> surrounding fall scenarios to help inform Team 2020 <https://covid-team2020.mit.edu/>. Our input as undergraduates is crucial as major decisions about this fall are currently being discussed and weighed. Team 2020 will be presenting to the senior leadership, the ones who will ultimately be making this decision, as early as a week from now. Please take 5 minutes out of your day today to fill it out and encourage your friends to as well!

2. UA Committee on COVID-19 - As many of you may know, the UA Committee on COVID-19 was recently formed to spur undergraduate community engagement on these topics. We have since produced a Recommendations Report for Team 2020 on the Fall, accessible at our website <http://ua.mit.edu/resources-documents>, as well as obtained permissions to share recordings of tri-weekly Institute COVID-19 Update Calls, accessible at this UA Dropbox Info Repository <http://tinyurl.com/mitcovidresponse>. We encourage you all to bookmark the page <http://ua.mit.edu/committee-description> and follow our social media channels (Instagram: @ua.covid19, @ua_mit and Facebook <https://www.facebook.com/mit.ua.covid19/?epa=SEARCH_BOX>) for the most up-to-date information.

We are now working hard to develop a report on privacy concerns associated with public health methods like contact tracing, as well as a report on alternate implementation proposals. Look out as we continue to reach out to you all for input. And of course, it goes without saying, if you have any ideas or alternate proposals for the Fall, feel free to contact us at ua-covid19 at mit.edu <mailto:ua-covid19 at mit.edu>. We cannot do this without you.

In these times, please remember to take care of and to be kind to yourselves. Your safety and wellbeing comes first. These past few weeks have been incredibly difficult, both physically and emotionally due to recent events. Know that we as the UA are here for you and as you check in on each other, don’t forget to check in with yourself. We hope you and your loved ones stay safe and healthy.

Best,
Yu Jing Chen
