Dear Undergrads,
TLDR; Fill out this form<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc7YKoqAGEgWo4_DQlG25E2RmzABp2BEeOmwg-OpDbMUDtmzQ/viewform> so we can improve our on-campus free menstrual product program.
Over the past few months, MindHandHeart has been piloting a free menstrual product program in bathrooms on campus in collaboration with the UA Wellness Committee. The pilot is currently launched in over eight bathrooms on campus; the full list can be found on the website here<https://mindhandheart.mit.edu/resources/free-menstrual-hygiene-products-pilot> as well as on the attached flier.
In order for the program to continue expanding, we need your feedback. Please fill out the form here with feedback about the pilot<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc7YKoqAGEgWo4_DQlG25E2RmzABp2BEeOmwg-OpDbMUDtmzQ/viewform>, including any prior experience as well as thoughts on further expansion. Your feedback responses are very valuable and will be shared with administrative leaders from across campus. If you have any immediate questions on the pilot, you can reach out to MindHandHeart at mindhandheart at mit.edu<mailto:mindhandheart at mit.edu>.
Furthermore, Pleasure at MIT will be distributing reduced-price menstrual cups to students at the beginning of the spring semester. Menstrual cups are a safe, sanitary, cost-effective, and environmentally-friendly alternative to disposable menstrual hygiene products. While supplies last, DivaCups subsidized by MindHandHeart will be available to students for just $5, a significant saving from the suggested retail price of $39.99. More information on this part of the pilot will be available soon. If you'd like to be one of the first to know when menstrual cups are available, sign up at https://forms.gle/LNCFf9ToQAFCzQn27. If you have any questions on the menstrual cup sale pilot, please contact pleasure-cups at mit.edu<mailto:pleasure-cups at mit.edu>.
The Free Menstrual Hygiene Products Pilot is a collaboration between MindHandHeart, MIT Facilities, the Undergraduate Association Wellness Committee, the Undergraduate Association Innovation Committee, Pleasure at MIT, Violence Prevention and Response, the Margaret Cheney Room, and the Women's and Gender Studies Department.
MindHandHeart is a coalition of students, faculty, and staff with fresh insights, new ideas, and diverse perspectives working collaboratively and strategically to strengthen the fabric of our MIT community. The Free Menstrual Products program was made possible by MindHandHeart’s Innovation Fund, which seeds novel approaches to wellbeing and mentors passionate students as their innovative ideas develop.
Best,
Andie Maloney & Maddy Abrahams
UA Wellness Committee Chairs
