Dear Undergrads,

tl;dr: Attend student conversations to discuss MIT’s values for outside
engagements on Dec.8th or Dec.10th. The final membership for Student
Committees on Guidelines for Outside Engagements and Campus Climate is
below. Apply here <https://mitcorpballot.slideroom.com/#/Dashboard> to be
on the MIT Corporation as a recent graduate.

[1] Student Conversations on Outside Engagements

The Student Committee on Guidelines for Outside Engagements invites you to
attend a student-only conversation to discuss how MIT should act in a
series of hypothetical situations involving outside engagements, such as
grants, gifts, and any other associations and collaborations. Unlike the
Student Forum on MIT & Epstein, these conversations are structured to allow
for intimate, back-and-forth dialogue.

Through these discussions, the committee hopes to better understand
students' values regarding MIT's process for soliciting and accepting
outside engagements. We encourage students of all beliefs and backgrounds
to come. These forums offer students an invaluable opportunity to play a
role in helping craft the guidelines underlying MIT's outside engagements,
which shape campus research, student groups, and more.

If you are able to attend either of the two conversations, we ask that you
please RSVP here
<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScDTatY5L6iLGJ3gNtUNwiViP6iSxxhsvfUycIu3uXmnLpr8w/viewform>.
To ensure that only students attend these discussions, we ask that you
bring your MIT ID. The conversations will be in:

   -

Sunday, Dec 8th at 2-3:30 PM in 26-152
   -

Tuesday, Dec 10th at 7-8:30 PM in 32-082

For both committees, the membership nearly exactly matches the outcome of
the vote. We only deviated from the vote for the following reasons:

   1.

One candidate had ranked in the top five spots for both committees, and
was ultimately only placed on one due to the committees’ projected time
   commitments.
   2.

One additional candidate in each committee was swapped out to provide
the committees with memberships that better reflected a diverse set of
   perspectives and backgrounds.

If you have questions, comments, or concerns please reach out to the
committees at student-guidelines at mit.edu or campus-climate-committee at mit.edu
.
