Hi Undergrads,
This Thursday is UA Events' Tech Twinkles, our annual tree-lighting
celebration with free mugs, hot chocolate, cupcakes, and cookies! Come join
us in Lobdell at 7pm! This Friday at 7:30pm in Walker Memorial is UA
Sustain's Trashion Show, our annual fashion show featuring student-designed
outfits made from trash and recycled materials. Come raise awareness about
sustainable practices, and bring clothing donations to enter the raffle!

*Tech Twinkles*
Tech Twinkles lights up the trees on campus with the aim of brightening the
dark winter months and improving community wellness. This includes our
tree-lighting celebration to bring students together to enjoy free mugs,
Georgetown Cupcakes, Insomnia Cookies, hot chocolate, and performances by
MIT student groups.
*Trashion Show*
Come see UA Sustain's annual fashion show featuring 20+ student-designed
outfits made of trash/recycled materials competing for 12 prizes (including
an Audience's Choice). This event raises awareness about waste and inspires
sustainable practices on campus and in the global fashion industry. Bring
clothing donations to enter our raffle!
*Join the ASA Board!*
The ASA is the governing board that handles the administrative aspects of
MIT’s over 400 student groups. They are recruiting undergraduate
representatives for the Committee on Funding and the Committee on Space

Join us for dinner and conversation as we embark on a series exploring
multiple aspects of identity in a variety of religious and spiritual
traditions. Hear from faith leaders about their journey through the
intersections of sexual orientation, gender identity, and their religious,
spiritual, or ethical tradition. All are welcome.
In conversation with Magda Mohamed and Nabil Khan. Moderated by ORSEL’s
newly appointed Advisor for LGBTQ+ Affairs, Cody J. Sanders.
Magda Mohamed is a PhD candidate in the Department of Religion at Boston
University, where she focuses on gender, sexuality, and embodied theologies
in American Islam. She earned her M.Div. at Harvard Divinity School in
2015, and currently serves as the Muslim chaplain at Groton School. Earlier
this year she co-founded the Union Square Halaqa, a woman-centered and
queer-affirming Muslim prayer gathering.
Nabil Khan is a co-founder of Queer Muslims of Boston (est. 2013), and also
a cofounder of the Union Square HalaQa group. He served as president of the
MSA at his alma mater. He is a researcher at Harvard T.H. Chan School of
Public Health.
Co-hosted by LBGTQ at MIT and the Office of Religious, Spiritual, and Ethical
Life.

*Designing the First-Year Experience: Fun-Sized*

DFY: Fun-Sized (2.s974/2.s790) is a 3-unit subject building on the original
Designing the First-Year Experience at MIT class offered in Spring 2018.
We welcome students who were involved with the prior class as well as
first-year students and others who were not able to participate last year.
The class will focus on exploring ideas for radical changes to the
first-year experience that could be piloted with a small group of students,
for example in a First-Year Learning Community (FLC), as well as less
dramatic changes that could be tested with the entire Class of 2023.
