Dear Undergraduates,

With the installation of our new Vice Chancellor for Education comes an
exciting new opportunity for undergrads to serve their peers!

Ian Waitz is looking for a group of undergraduates to serve on a new Vice
Chancellor Advisory Committee, similar to the existing President’s Advisory
Council (PAC). We are hoping to convene a group of undergraduates diverse
in every sense of the word. If you are interested in thinking deeply and
broadly about the MIT education, this position is for you. Students who
have an understanding of the issues affecting the undergraduate education
broadly (beyond their own experience) are particularly encouraged to apply.
Some things you might expect to weigh in on include the first year
experience, reducing time between exams and graduation, and a service
opportunities program. You can learn more about the Office of the Vice
Chancellor at their website
<https://ovc.mit.edu/strategic-priorities/goals/>.

The Vice Chancellor is doing truly influential work, and by serving on this
committee you could do your part in shaping the MIT education for years to
come.

If you are interested, please fill out this application
<https://goo.gl/forms/iTFicZYQsmBclYPx2> by October 8th. There will be an
interview the following week.

While I have your attention, we also have an open spot for a nominee to the
MacVicar Fellow selection committee, which recognizes excellence in
teaching. Learn more about the MacVicar Fellowship here
<https://registrar.mit.edu/faculty-curriculum-support/faculty-awards/margaret-macvicar-faculty-fellows-program>,
and email me at mjporz at mit.edu if you are interested in helping select
MacVicar fellows.

Best,

MJ
