Dear Undergrads,
I'm excited to announce the opening of *UA Committee Chair / Vice Chair
applications
<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeKBiBrptU7jXWnGsde2Ln8oELuY0CefdRewuroHn631bAJWQ/viewform?usp=sf_link>*!
The application will remain open until *5pm Thursday, May 3rd*, with
interviews May 4-5.
UA committees are a great way to be involved in student government, develop
yourself as a leader, and make a tangible difference. Whether it is policy,
projects, programs, or events, you can make it happen through the UA. No
previous UA experience is necessary.
Regardless of what committee you lead, Chairs and Vice Chairs will attend
Cabinet meetings where you will propose new projects and provide input on
officer initiatives. You will also have the ability to choose your
committee members once applications open in the beginning of the fall and
spring semesters.
The list of available committee chair / vice chair openings is below:
*Alumni Affairs*: The Alumni Affairs <http://ua.mit.edu/alumni-affairs/>
Committee works closely with the Alumni Association and the MIT Student
Alumni Association to build relationships between the undergraduate body
and alumni. This year, they created the first MIT Better World Alumni
Panel, hosted dinners and mixers with Boston area alums, and started the
summer alumni mentorship program.
*Community Service*: The Community Service
<http://ua.mit.edu/community-service/> Committee works closely with the PKG
Public Service Center to help undergraduates explore their community
through service and build relationships with local groups. This year, the
committee worked with the MIT Prison Initiative and organized the annual
Week of Service.
*Involvement*: The Involvement <http://ua.mit.edu/involvement/> Committee
works closely with the Vice President to engage both the undergraduate
student body and internal UA members in the decision making process. The
Involvement Committee creates community within the UA and broader student
body by planning study breaks and promoting cross committee collaborations.
As the Involvement Chair, you will also be able to implement new ways for
the UA to reach out to the student body.
Please let me know if you have any questions!
Best wishes,
Kat
