Committee Updates

We have a lot of exciting plans for this semester and want all undergrads to get involved and be a part of the change on campus!

Garden Committee

This semester Garden is working on several projects. The first will be renovating the undergraduate garden with a GREENHOUSE. If you did not know, the undergraduate garden is located in the Westgate Parking lot across from Next House. Feel free to check it out!

The next project will focus on installing Indoor gardens in high traffic hallways in the academic buildings. Specifically, UA Sustain will be working with Facilities to install a living wall somewhere on campus. Please let us know if you have suggestions! Garden will also be opening up the undergraduate community garden for the spring term, so keep an eye out for a sign-up form. They will be planting the garden in early April.

Eco Committee

The ECO committee has and will continue to provide the ECO-Foodware program (http://mit.us11.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=f43efc8e7fde8d82abef05f08&id=7753cff3d0&e=216a6745a4) offering compostables to the MIT community at affordable prices. The program makes it easier for student groups and other members of the community to have sustainable events. ECO has also been working on replacing plastic utensils with their compostable counterparts in the dining halls. Their current focus is to increase knowledge of proper recycling on campus.

Compost Committee

Composting will continue its mission of providing educational events on composting as well as adding additional composting bins in various areas and dorms. They are current working on expanding completely student-run, voluntary compost programs in Burton Conner and MacGregor. If you want a compost bin in a certain location, reach out to the composting committee at mission-compostable at mit.edu.

Trashion Show

Trashion (http://mit.us11.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=f43efc8e7fde8d82abef05f08&id=094db6491d&e=216a6745a4) was a success this year thanks to the incredible designers, models, judges, performers, sponsors, and of course attendees! We were impressed with the incredible craftsmanship and creativity of every Trashion piece, and several award-winning designs will be displayed at the Prudential from February 1 to February 10. Pictures and a full video of the show can be found on ourFacebook page (http://mit.us11.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=f43efc8e7fde8d82abef05f08&id=174f017df9&e=216a6745a4) .
