Dear Undergraduates,
I hope all is well.
For the past few years, Caroline Chin ‘16 and Kamilla Tekiela ‘16 have been working on a report about the experiences of undergraduate women at MIT. The report’s findings are supported by data from Institute-wide surveys and focus groups. The results of this report provide significant insight into the experiences of students, and how those experiences differ depending on gender. As we engage in conversations around how to create a better community for all students, it is vital that we understand how our peers from various backgrounds engage and interact with MIT, and what the MIT experience is like for every one of us.
Accordingly, I encourage you to read the summary and full report to better understand how student experiences at MIT vary by gender.
You can find their report here: http://diversity.mit.edu/status-undergrad-women/
I further invite you to share your thoughts, comments, and suggestions about the report, and how we can create a better campus climate, here<https://discussion.mit.edu/r/campuslife/comments/4l/status_of_undergraduate_women_report_discussion/>.
Finally, I would like to thank Caroline and Kamilla for the tremendous effort they have put into creating this report - of their own initiative - and the dedication, as well as the time, they have contributed to help make our community a better place.
Sincerely,
Matthew Davis
