Trashion Show:
The MIT Trashion show was last week on December 5th. Over 150 students and designers attended for a night of fun and sustainable fashion. MIT students and other designers showcased 25 designs for the event, using materials ranging from trash bags and plastic cups to ping pong balls and leftover medical supplies. Congrats to the winning designs of the night:

Energy Saving Tips for Winter Break!
To make this more interesting all units are in bananas of energy saved (1 banana = 630 kJ). Use this guide as a checklist before leaving for break. Please find the full guideline for saving energy this holiday season here<http://ua-sustain.mit.edu/#tips>.
Unplug all chargers and appliances!
* Plugged in mini-fridge: 80 bananas over winter break
* Plasma TV (turned off): 3 bananas per day
* Convection microwave: 3 bananas per month
Close your windows.
* 25% of daily heat loads are due to windows!
Recycle old electronics!
* Battery recycling in all dorms and W20.
* Cell phones, PDAs, pagers, CDs (CD cases), cables and wires: Technocycle bins located in most Distributed Mail Centers (W20 and all around main campus)
* Monitors, CPUs, TVs, printers, copiers, mice, keyboards, speakers etc: Any MIT member can request a free pick from your location through Atlas
Compost old food- your neighbors will thank you.
* Compost bins located in all dining dorms and across campus
Resell and reuse old textbooks, clothes and appliances!
* sign up @mit.edu/reuse<http://mit.edu/reuse>
Turn off the lights!
* Turning everything off for a day in an average dorm room can save about 26MJ or 41 bananas! This adds up to 1800 bananas over holiday break + IAP!
Looking for some love this holiday season? Try some sustainable pick-up lines!
"Turning off the lights is one of my turn ons."
"I just got dumped. Would you recycle me into your boyfriend?"
"Your eyes are as bright as energy saving light bulbs. Will you light up my life?"
"Since cars pollute, can I pick you up on my electric scooter?"
"Hey, are you the environment? Because I care about you."
