Hello Undergraduates,
The UA Nominations Board would like to invite you to apply to be an undergraduate representative on the MacVicar Advisory Committee, the group that advises the Provost on selection of MacVicar Faculty Fellows. We are looking for juniors and seniors who have different academic interests as evidenced by their majors, minors, and concentrations. We seek new perspectives each year from the student and faculty members, so representatives should not have served on the committee in previous years. Other members of the committee will include the Dean for Undergraduate Education, the Dean for Curriculum and Faculty Support, and four faculty members.
Committee members will be expected to read a notebook of nominations; last year there were 14 nominations and about 800 pages of materials to review. The Committee will meet once, on Monday, January 12, from 1 to 3 pm. Before the meeting, members will rank the nominees, and then at the meeting you will discuss the candidates, make adjustments to the rankings, and agree on your recommendations to the Provost. It is, therefore, very important, that the members be able to attend the January 12th meeting. All members are expected to keep the nomination materials and the discussions confidential.
More information about the MacVicar Faculty Fellows Program is available at http://web.mit.edu/macvicar/ .
Please apply here<http://goo.gl/forms/EwkRF5mg1r> before the 30th of November.
Sincerely,
Doug Coughran '15
UA Nominations Board
