Hi Undergrads,

The search process for the next president has begun and the Undergraduate Association (UA) and the Graduate Student Council (GSC) are committed to providing opportunities for student engagement. Accordingly, the UA and GSC will be holding student-led forums and focus groups over the next few weeks to solicit feedback on the needs of MIT as well as the desirable qualities that a president should possess. The opinions and perspectives collected will be used to advise the MIT Corporation in the selection of the 17th MIT President.

Additionally, the UA and GSC are forming a joint task force to serve in an advisory capacity to the search process. On this body, ten undergraduates and ten graduate students will represent the MIT student community. They will be responsible for soliciting feedback from student constituencies.

The UA and GSC invite students to apply to serve on the task force. The nominations process is now open and the deadline for applications is March 10th at 2PM. Individuals must be prepared to work on an accelerated timeline, meeting at least weekly, and they must also respect the high sensitivity of this role. They must be willing and able to organize forums and focus groups to solicit the general opinions of the student community.

More information on the forum dates and the task force nomination process is online at ua.mit.edu/presidentsearch<http://ua.mit.edu/presidentsearch>. If you have any questions or concerns, please e-mail us at gscua-search at mit.edu<mailto:gscua-search at mit.edu>. Over the upcoming weeks, we will also provide online opportunities for students to provide their opinions.

Thank you,

The Undergraduate Association and The Graduate Student Council
