MIT Corporation Chairman at Monday's Senate Meeting

Jonté Craighead (UA Speaker) ua-speaker at MIT.EDU
Fri Feb 25 00:05:36 EST 2011

Good evening, undergrads:

I am pleased to announce that *John Reed '61, SM '65, Chairman of the MIT
Corporation*, will be Senate's Guest Speaker at our meeting on *Monday at
7:30pm in W20-400*. This will be Mr. Reed's first visit to Senate since his
election in June, and we invite you to join us for an exciting discussion on
the Institute's future direction.

Similar to a board of trustees, the MIT Corporation is responsible for
electing the Institute's chief leadership (President, Executive Vice
President & Treasurer, Secretary, etc.) and also works to ensure the
availability of resources to support MIT's current and future initiatives.
As its Chair, Mr. Reed leads the Corporation in advising the President on
the Institute's strategic direction, drawing on experience from past roles
as Chairman of Citigroup, Inc. and of the New York Stock Exchange. For more
information on the Corporation, and Mr. Reed himself, please see the links
at the end of my e-mail.

Monday's meeting will be a unique opportunity to engage one of MIT's most
respected leaders, and I hope you will consider attending.

Thank you for your time,
Jonté Craighead

Speaker of the Senate
