Apply for new MIT Online Faculty Study Group

Dear Undergraduates,

Provost Reif recently announced the formation of new faculty study groups
that will examine potential extensions of MIT's educational and online
offerings. In order to fill our undergraduate representative spot on the MIT
Online Study Group <http://web.mit.edu/provost/studygroup/>, the UA
Nominations Committee <http://ua.mit.edu/join/nominations/> is seeking
applications from interested students effective immediately.

We will be accepting applications via email to ua-nomcomm at mit.edu
until *Saturday,
October 9, at 6:00 p.m.* All applications will be reviewed by Sunday,
October 10, at 6:00 p.m., and *interviews* will be held *Monday, October 11*,
between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. (noon). If you are serious about applying to be
a representative on this study group, please make yourself available during
the interview hours on Monday. Additionally, I encourage you to read through
the charge of the committee and collect feedback from your fellow
undergraduates in order to aid you in filling out the application.


**Please send the following information to ua-nomcomm at mit.edu. Please fill
out the application *completely* before *Saturday at 6:00 p.m.***

1. Name, Athena username, Year, Major(s), Living group(s)

2. What are some examples of programs or endeavors that would extend "MIT's
educational leadership, excellence and impact, both domestically and
internationally?" (i.e. what are some concrete examples that have been
proposed or you think may be proposed?)

3. What is your *personal opinion* of these extension programs? State
specifically why you support (or do not support) each proposal. (150 words
max.)

4. What is the *undergraduate opinion* of these extension programs? Be
specific, but acknowledge suppositions and speculation. (175 words max.)

5. What is the *faculty opinion *of these extension programs? Be specific,
but acknowledge suppositions and speculation. (150 words max.)
