Hey everyone,

I hope your first week of classes is going well. A number of UA committees
are recruiting new members. Please see the blurbs below and fill out an
application at http://ua.mit.edu/join/. Please note that while a number of
committees are listed online, only those described below are actively
seeking new members.

Thanks,
Maggie
UA Vice-President
*
Deputy Secretary General *(please contact ua-secretary at mit.edu directly for
this position)
The deputy secretary general with assist the secretary general with duties
such as archiving, public relations, communication, and note taking. Please
email ua-secretary at mit.edu if you are interested or have questions about the
responsibilities of the deputy Secretary General.

*UA Dining Committee*
The Dining committee is looking for three new members to help with our
current projects and to come up with some new ones. We represent the
interests of students on all issues related to dining--meal plans, kitchens,
student center vendors, food trucks, etc. More information about the
committee is available on our website (http://ua.mit.edu/committees/dining)
or by contacting the committee chair at ua-dining-chairs at mit.edu.

*UA Committee on Student Life* */ CSL* (help with wellness week)
Wellness Week is a week dedicated to health and well-being in late
April/early May for MIT undergraduate students. Events range from Zan
Berry's famous "How to Cheat Sleep" Lecture to Active Mind's Bubble Fest to
CSL's free breakfast every morning. The two committee members will help
Grace and I with planning the outdoor reception, getting in contact with the
different health groups on campus, and overseeing the organization of the
different Wellness Week events (i.e. making sure Active Minds has everything
they need for Bubble Fest and that the event runs smoothly). CSL will be
taking on a more administrative role this year, but that is why it is
essential that new committee members be organized and dedicated. You will
be able to gain experience with coordinating campus-wide events,
collaborating with student groups, and developing contacts with key MIT
offices. We especially encourage students who would be interested in being
a part of CSL long-term.

*UA Special Projects Committee*
Have a great idea that would make life better for undergraduates? Consider
joining the UA's Special Projects committee. Past projects include the Star
Shuttle and Produce Market. Freshmen and sophomores are especially
encouraged to apply.

*UA Committee on Alumni Relations / CAR*
CAR is looking for a webmaster to implement an interface they have designed.
Please contact ua-car-chairs at mit.edu for more information.

*UA Athletics Committee*
The UA Athletics Committee is looking for one or two more members. If you
are interested in athletics and eager to join, fill out the application
online or email ua-athletics-chairs at mit.edu for more information.
