Recycling at MIT

Dear undergrads,

As Thanksgiving break and the end of term approach, we would like to remind
you of some of the great recycling programs that exist at MIT:

*Single-stream recycling:* All of MIT's recycling bins are single-stream.
You can place paper-recyclables with plastic, glass, and metal recyclables
in recycling bins across campus.  For a detailed list of what is

*Plastic bag recycling*: We are very pleased to announce that Facilities has
placed plastic bag recycling bins in each of the undergraduate and graduate
dorms. In addition, there are collection bins in Stata and the Student
Center.

*Battery recycling*: As of last month, Facilities has also started to
collect batteries in each of the dorms at or near the front desk, in
distributed mail centers, and at other locations across campus.  Please
remember to tape over the terminals of your batteries to prevent fires
during collection and transportation.  For more information, please visit:

*Technocycle:* Recycle your small electronics, such as cables, mice, cell
phones, and CDs, through Technocycle bins in Distributed Mail Centers across
campus.  For a list of some of these locations, visit: http://web.mit.edu/
facilities/environmental/TechnoCycle_bin_locations.pdf.
MIT Facilities will pick up any larger electronic recyclables (like CRTs,
laptops and televisions) for free up to 50 lbs.  Simply fill out a Recycling
& Trash Form at http://web.mit.edu/sapweb/PS1/facilities_home.shtml.  More
