Hey everyone,

Copied below is an invitation to attend the student-only session of the
NEASC accreditation evaluation of MIT. This session is of particular
interest because it is an opportunity for students to share their
thoughts about MIT exclusively with the accreditation team. I encourage
everyone to drop by *34-141 Monday (10/5) between 5-6pm*, grab a snack,
and share your MIT experiences.

Best,
Mike

Dear Students,

Every ten years, MIT invites the New England Association of Schools and
Colleges (NEASC) to perform an accreditation evaluation. While many MIT
programs are awarded discipline-specific accreditation, the upcoming
process evaluates the Institute as a whole.

We hope you will come share your perspective with an evaluation team
visiting MIT next month. As part of the Institute's 10-year
accreditation, you are invited to attend a students-only session:

*Date*: Monday, October 5

*Time*: 5:00 PM -- 6:00 PM

*Location*: Room 32-141

The accreditation process includes an evaluation visit by a 10-person
team. While the team is on campus, they would like to hear from you, our
current students. The students-only session is an opportunity to share
your feedback on issues such as the undergraduate and graduate academic
program, your residential experience, diversity issues, leadership and
service opportunities, or any other part of MIT.

During the students-only session:

· A member of the visiting team will moderate

· No MIT faculty or staff will be present

· Students may come and go as they please

· You do not have to stay for the full hour

· Refreshments will be served

We encourage you to attend and share your thoughts.

If you are interested in more details about MIT's accreditation, you can
view MIT's self-study report at [http://web.mit.edu/accreditation/].
This report was completed this summer by a team of faculty, staff and
students.

Sincerely,

Phillip L. Clay, Chancellor

Steven R. Lerman, Vice Chancellor and Dean for Graduate Education
