Fellow undergraduates,
In early 2004, former President Vest created the Task Force on the
Undergraduate Educational Commons, which was created to undertake an
evaluation of the common experience of undergraduates at MIT for the
first time in over 50 years. Now, after over 2 years of deliberations,
the Task Force will be releasing its preliminary set of recommendations,
including a newly proposed set of GIRs.
If you are AT ALL interested in the future of undergraduate education at
MIT, we would strongly encourage you to attend this event. It is very
likely that a large subset of these recommendations will be part of the
GIRs in the near future, affecting future classes much like your own.
Town Meeting: Task Force on the Undergraduate Educational Commons
May 10, 2006 (TODAY!)
3:00-5:00 PM
Room 32-123, Stata Center
Professor Robert Silbey, Chair of the Task Force, will present current
recommendations of the Task Force to solicit feedback from students and
faculty.
Please come if you have any perspectives or thoughts to share, or simply
to hear the recommendations. Student members of the task force will be
presenting a short follow-up to the faculty recommendations.
We look forward to seeing you there!!
