Dear Students,
When I first decided to run for Undergraduate Association Vice President, I ran
because I believed that I could positively influence the MIT community by
taking on a leadership role. It was truly an honor to be elected and I
recognized that this position required vision, time, dedication, and it is a
responsibility I take very seriously.
Unavoidable personal issues have arisen in my life that have affected my
ability
to fulfill my responsibilities to the student body. At this point, I can no
longer avoid these issues and need to address them in an effective way.
I would like to thank you for giving me this opportunity to represent you and
fight for you, and I sincerely apologize that I am unable to see my
responsibilities through until the end of my term; I respectfully resign my
position as Undergraduate Association Vice President. As difficult as this is
for me, I believe that this choice is in the best interest of the student body
and is the best decision for me personally.
I am proud of the work UA has accomplished and I am confident about UA's
continued success in the future. This is an organization that has contributed
so much to the student body, and has so much more to give. I will sincerely
miss the opportunities to improve life for students through my role as UA Vice
President, but I am confident that UA will continue to fight for student
rights, to preserve our unique identity, and to help students accomplish what
is important to them.
Respectfully Submitted,
Phillip A. Vasquez
