Hey all,
Some of you have reported to me (and I've experienced myself) that when
entering the Z-center to shoot an athletic event, you've been hassled by the
security desk to sign a form. I just got off the phone with a couple admins
in the Athletics Department, so here's the deal.
The form is designed to keep sketchy people off the street from taking
pictures of sweaty people working out in the Z-center. It's not designed to
stop members of Technique from taking pictures of official athletics
competitions. Please DO NOT go take pictures of people working out on the
second floor, or any regular members of the Z-center that aren't in an
official event, because then people might flip out.
When entering the Z-center, you *should* be able to identify yourself as a
"photographer of Technique, the yearbook of MIT" and be allowed to go shoot
an event. If you are asked to sign a form (which looks like this:
http://tinyurl.com/ypwwlp ), DO NOT SIGN IT. If they don't let you go in
without signing it, then go home and send me an email. Signing the form is
not acceptable to us, as there are several clauses that we will not comply
with!
In the near future, there will be press passes for us, to guarantee we won't
be hassled. I'll let you know when that happens. Also, there shouldn't be
any issues with outdoor sports. Either way, GO SHOOT SPORTS! We need more
photographers filling up the sports section.

P.S. Technique just got a new toy for shooting sports. Its big. BIG. (Did
I say big?) If you're interested, ask me.
