Hey all,

Hope everyone had a good thanksgiving, and is taking it easy and resisting
the temptation to do work!

There will not be a meeting tomorrow because most people are out of town.
However if you go to the office you will probably find a couple people
lounging around :)

I'd like to remind all of you that there are a bunch of things you can be
doing. You can submit photos you've already taken. Or you can go out and
take new photos! And of course we have the photo contests, where you can
win $50 or more.

Photo contests info: http://web.mit.edu/technique/www/contest.html

Info on how to FTP in your digital photos is at the bottom of this email,
copied from a previous memo I sent.

Now go out and take pictures! -Dave

On a different note, people have been asking for a way to submit digital
photos from the comfort of their room, instead of bringing a disc or a hard
drive to the office on Saturdays. Well, we got a solution set up!

Open your favorite FTP software and point it to "grogo-store.mit.edu" (if
that doesn't work, try 18.187.3.75). The username is "staph" and the
password is "velvia". Make yourself a folder inside the /public folder, so
you'll store all your stuff in /public/FirstLast. Subfolders inside your
named folder are optional, but you may want to use them to organize your
stuff if you're submitting a lot.

Notes:
1) Don't put anything in the /staph folder, cause we wont find it.
2) If you're planning on uploading A LOT, i.e. dozens and dozens of
gigabytes, ask first... not that we discourage submitting lots of stuff.
3) Be a friendly FTPer :) Don't go downloading other people's stuff, cause
it's someone else's property!
4) Eventually, we'll clear stuff out of these folders and move it to our
more official "Camera Dump". So if you see you're stuff missing, assume we
moved it.
5) Please email me if you are having problems!

We hope all of you uploading from home will still come in on Saturdays and
chill with us. And, of course, we still love people that use film. In
fact, we just made a big B&H order. We hope all the film that people have
been taking will come back to us in the next month with lots of exposures on
them :)
