TMRW Palm Sunday Masses: 10:00am, 1:00pm, 5:00pm
Palm Sunday is more than a passing moment of enthusiasm; it is a real invitation to choose Christ. As Saint John Paul II urged at the beginning of his pontificate, “Do not be afraid. Open wide the doors to Christ” (Inaugural Homily, 1978), and let Him walk with you in a real and lasting way. He reminded young people that Christ “calls you to be His friends” (World Youth Day Message, 2000), inviting you into a relationship that endures through both joy and struggle. Palm Sunday quietly asks for courage, the courage to stand for what is true, to love generously, and to remain close to Christ even when it is difficult. It is only in Christ that we live in a way that brings contentment to our hearts and discover the peace our restlessness seeks.
Enter this Holy Week then, not as a distant observer, but as someone personally invited to walk beside Jesus, trusting, as Saint John Paul preached to millions of young people, that “it is Jesus you seek when you dream of happiness” (World Youth Day Vigil, Tor Vergata, 2000). And he explains why: “man cannot fully find himself except through a sincere gift of himself” (Redemptor Hominis, 1979). In other words, it is precisely in giving your life to Christ, and learning to give yourself in love, that you begin to discover your life’s deepest meaning and its lasting fulfillment.
Blessings and peace,
Fr Michael

“Jesus loves you always, even when you don’t feel worthy.
When not accepted by others, even by yourself sometimes,
He is the one who always accepts you. Only believe, you are precious to Him.
Bring all you are suffering to His feet, only open your heart to be loved by Him as you are.
He will do the rest.” Saint Mother Teresa
