DON’T MISS -
The annual Gold Mass and St. Albert the Great lecture - this year, on the Science Behind the Shroud of Turin - is this Sunday at 9:30am in the MIT Chapel. The lecture and reception will follow in W11, 40 Mass Ave, Cambridge.
What is the Gold Mass?
A Roman Catholic Gold Mass is a special Mass celebrated for Catholic scientists, engineers, and those working in the sciences.
What is the purpose of a Gold Mass?
* It is meant to gather and support those working in scientific fields.
* It highlights the harmony between the Catholic faith and scientific inquiry.
* the Society of Catholic Scientists held its first-ever Gold Mass in the chapel at MIT on November 15, 2016.
* The tradition was promoted by the Society of Catholic Scientists, which chose gold because it is associated with:
* the traditional color for the field of science (e.g., the “golden age” of discovery)
* the symbol used for the patron saint of scientists, St. Albert the Great.
How is it like the Blue Mass or Red Mass?
These Masses follow a similar pattern:
They are special Masses named by color, each honoring or praying for a particular professional group.
Red Mass
* For: Lawyers, judges, law students, government officials
* Purpose: To ask the Holy Spirit’s guidance for those involved in law and justice
* Name comes from the red vestments of the Mass of the Holy Spirit.
Blue Mass
* For: Police officers, firefighters, EMTs, and other first responders
* Purpose: To honor and pray for those in public safety
* “Blue” refers to the color commonly associated with law enforcement uniforms.
Blessings and peace,

“Jesus loves you always, even when you don’t feel worthy.
When not accepted by others, even by yourself sometimes,
He is the one who always accepts you. Only believe, you are precious to Him.
Bring all you are suffering to His feet, only open your heart to be loved by Him as you are.
He will do the rest.” Saint Mother Teresa
