Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
It is with deep sorrow that I share the news that our Holy Father, Pope Francis, earlier this Easter Monday morning, passed from this earthly life into eternity.
We give profound thanks to God for the gift of Pope Francis — a faithful and loving shepherd who reflected God's unconditional love with clarity and compassion. His life of humble service touched, inspired, and converted the hearts of both believers and non-believers alike. Pope Francis leaves behind a legacy that will continue to challenge and inspire the Church — each of us — to love without limits and to embody the mercy of Christ in all we do. As he once reminded us, “The Church is called to be the house of the Father, with doors always wide open.”
I invite each member of the MIT Catholic community to pray a Rosary today — both for the repose of Pope Francis' soul and in thanksgiving for the grace of his papacy.
Today and tomorrow, I am away on two monastic Days of Recollection, where Pope Francis will be at the heart of my prayer. I return to campus tomorrow afternoon, Tuesday, and we will gather to celebrate a special Mass for Pope Francis at 7:30 p.m. I encourage you, if at all possible, to arrange your schedules to join us in this moment of prayer and remembrance for our beloved Holy Father.
In Christ's peace,
Fr Michael

“Jesus loves you always, even when you don’t feel worthy.
When not accepted by others, even by yourself sometimes,
He is the one who always accepts you. Only believe, you are precious to Him.
Bring all you are suffering to His feet, only open your heart to be loved by Him as you are.
He will do the rest.” Saint Mother Teresa
