Hi everyone,
As you may know, tomorrow is the Solemnity of All Saints. Tomorrow during our weekly Spaghetti Supper, we’re excited to invite you to a unique and beautiful tradition rooted in the Mexican celebration of Día de los Muertos – the ofrenda.
(Spags will be happening in W20-401 at 7:00 p.m., we'll also pray the Holy Rosary at 6:30 in the chapel)
The ofrenda, or "altar," is a centuries-old tradition honoring loved ones who have passed away, particularly celebrated during All Saints and All souls day. Rooted in both indigenous and Catholic practices, it’s a reminder of our unity in the Church with the faithful departed and our journey toward heaven.
The ofrenda is usually decorated with pictures, favorite foods and mementos of those we remember, symbolizing the joy and hope we have in Christ's promise of eternal life. We welcome you to bring pictures or any thing that remembers someone you would like for us to pray for.
We'll also have some delicious homemade Pan de Muerto (bread of the dead) which is eaten after praying for the faithful departed.
Please join us as we honor the saints in heaven who intercede for us and pray to the faithful departed whom we expect to meet in eternity.
In Christ, through Mary, mother of Life,
Marvin Martinez
