The Portsmouth Institute is a summer conference, study, recreation and retreat center for all those interested in questions pertaining to Catholic life, leadership and service in the 21st Century. This year’s conference will be held from June 7th-9th on the topic of Catholicism and the American Experience. We look forward to welcoming George Weigel, Peter Steinfels, Bishop Tobin of Providence and other distinguished speakers for a weekend that includes thought-provoking talks, beautiful liturgies at our Benedictine Abbey, concerts, drama, outdoor activities and much good fellowship. Please see the enclosed press release for additional details or go to www.portsmouthinstitute.org<http://www.portsmouthinstitute.org>.
A generous donor has offered us a number of scholarships to enable graduate/undergraduate students, who would otherwise not be able to attend our Institute, to come free of charge. This scholarship includes the conference fee plus two nights lodging (Friday and Saturday). The cruise of Bristol Harbor for $50 and travel would be additional costs to the student. If you know of a student who would value an opportunity like this, please contact Cindy Waterman at cwaterman at portsmouthabbey.org<mailto:cwaterman at portsmouthabbey.org> or call her at (401) 643-1244 with their name and contact information. A response is needed by Friday, April 12th with the candidate’s information. Please obtain the permission of the candidate before forwarding his/her name. The schedule and additional information appears below.
Thank you for your consideration, and all best wishes.
Sincerely,
James MacGuire
Director
