I agree with Lois. That hanging left arm looks hideous and those spread fingers on his back seem desperate and clutching. I think the look started with  younger dancers taking up Nuevo tango. At least that's when and where I began noticing it. The arm in this position does not seem to be well-engineered for traditional close embrace but ok for the V embrace of Nuevo. Sherrie.
