The issue, I believe, is whether such foreign milongas agree with their vision and expectations ( created by their past indoctrination and social interactions ). It might be revealing if you can disclose which are the BsAs milongas where they sit and gripe?

Another issue is the difference between a desirable past time and or a hobby, if not an outright obsession, in contrast to a job one has to do for living. "Fun is what we want to do, work is what we have to do." If the teachers in question do not need to recruit new students and/or keep the present students motivated they may as well take a break and do something else instead of going to the milongas. Maybe, just maybe, they are even dreaming about getting a different job.
