Not technically true IMHO. It varies by country, but copyright in the
actual intellectual property of the *music* lasts about 23 years. i.e.
after that time you can perform the music in public, or make a recording,
without paying any fees.

However the rights to any actual *recording* of the music last in
perpetuity.
