"I'm looking at the communication between the performing couple and
wondering where / how is the lead and follow being executed? They stand back and
look at each other...then, the male moves his head/arms (?) in one
direction indicating / suggesting a reply from the woman...she embellishes and
awaits the next suggestion? I estimate that less than half is lead by the body
within an open stance and that the woman is often 'on her own' so to speak?"
They appear to be dancing at the end of a class and the dance usually
incorporates what was taught in the class. As far as lead and follow this
couple is amazing. Open embrace is lead 100% with the right and left hands in
the proper positions and with the bodies moving in unison. They have perfect
balance, axis and posture. They do throw in a couple of “nuevo” moves but
they are dancing more of a show tango then a traditional tango you would
see danced at a milonga. To answer you're question every single step is being
lead by the man she is not doing anything on her own she is following his
lead and it’s not a choreographed routine it’s improvisational.
