Keith,
I don't want to speak for Chris but I think that he has outlined what an effective class could look like ie: which subjects would be covered and that the teachers would mostly dance with their students.
I find his theories valuable because I have found similar contradictions in second language teaching/learning. There, visual and verbal descriptions of the target language do not produce fluency in comprehension and speaking. Yet, written grammar exercises and inauthentic speech exercises is what is taught (inflicted) in all the secondary schools in the USA with almost zero success in producing second language fluency. I am seeing that acquiring dance fluency has a lot in common with this. Authentic language is language used in real life tasks/communication and not found in pre-planned, isolated exercises. Chris talks about students learning to dance by dancing,..that the 'feel' of the dance is more important than visually watching or walking thru a robotic exercise. I think that if we could put our egos aside and come together around some of this, we could help discover what is really effective tango teaching/learning.
