In first place it is convenient to explain what this discussion is not
about.

It is not about criticizing the way you dance.

When a milonguero like Ricardo Vidort says: ""I don't believe that a women
should dance tango as a man"

He is talking about his conviction of what tango is about, a conviction born
of his many years of experience as an Argentine and as a tango dancer.

Milongueros never criticize other dancers. You have absolute freedom to
dance the way you wish both in Argentina and abroad.

This discussion is not about homophobia or intolerance either, Argentina and
its society as a whole is extremely tolerant with respect to gay rights.
There are gay clubs, discos and at least three milongas in Buenos Aires.
"La Marshall" is one of the choices for going out on Wednesdays along with
"Dandy".

Members of the gay community frequently come to regular milongas and dance
men together, women together and that does not bother anyone, they are
treated with absolute respect. A few years ago I was at a milonga when a
group of men wearing long dresses with long openings on the side came, a
hairy leg showed up once in a while coming out of the opening, they danced
for a while and then left. It was accepted as normal. No big deal.

Argentina seems to be the first country in the whole continent that grants
the right to marriage to persons of the same sex.

This discussion is not about machismo or women's lack of rights either.

Women in Argentina are highly respected, they are considered to be equal to
men. Different but equal. Neither superior or inferior, just different.
Women rights were granted without to much fuss or discussion long ago.

Isabel Peron was the first woman president in the American Continent.

Congress by law must have at least one third of its members of the feminine
gender. Any party list must contain 1/3 of women.

It does not amaze me that some posters claim to be "A media luz" (in the
twilight zone) when discussing this subject, when in actuality they are
totally in total obscurity, in complete blindness...totally lost and
clueless... but this is something different to contend with later.

The discussion here is about the spirit and the soul of Argentine Tango, a
creation of Argentine Popular Culture and which as such reflects the society
that created it.

We shall see if this has any merits. In the meantime as always, please
continue dancing as it pleases you but as, genius Derik says: you should
question yourselves when you stopped dancing Argentine Tango to do something
else. All the codes of tango are there for a very important reason result
of more than 100 years of experience and development.

Till later, best regards, Sergio
