Four highly accomplished musicians, Quartango takes tango in new directions, with impeccable arrangements, subtle and unexpected allusions to classical music, and a liberal dose of humor, all woven together by the elegant interplay of ensemble playing at its best. They--Stephane Aubin/piano, Jonathan Goldman/bandoneon, René Gosselin/double bass, Chantal Simard/percussion, and Antoine Bareil/violin-- offer up a repertoire ranging from the classic tangos to tango nuevo and Piazzolla while fusing anything from jazz and opera to waltzes and jigs in their own inimitable style. Having performed with numerous orchestras around the world, Quartango is the recipient of multiple awards including three Opus Awards, a Félix Award, and a Juno nomination.
The music is both playful and intense, both whimsical and sophisticated… After 25 years of tangos, Quartango is anything but tired, bringing the music to life with all its mystery and magic.”
