August

========================================================================
Tango 59° Stockholm City has a reputation of being one of the world's
best tango festivals, featuring exceptional teachers, a very friendly
and relaxed atmosphere and the possibility literally to dance around
the clock, with ten milongas — and after-parties on top of that. If
you are a tangoholic, this is the summer festival for you.
Social dancing is always at the very heart of Tango 59°. And we pride
ourselves on the flow on the dance floor, which many people have
discovered is remarkably smooth and calm, yet dynamic and alert. Many
of Europe's best dancers return to Stockholm each year to be a part of
it.
We're also the only European festival at which the legendary Buenos
Aires DJ Mario Orlando has ever agreed to play. We are very proud and
extremely pleased to present Mario Orlando to the Tango 59° audience
once more - his contribution to the living dynamic of the social dance
floor is immense. This year, for the first time ever, Mario will
conduct a DJ seminar to share those gems of knowledge garnered during
decades of DJing in Buenos Aires. Don't miss it, it's the chance of a
life-time.
Tango 59° Stockholm City International Festival 2009 will take place
between Tuesday 28 July and Sunday 2 August. Booking is open now - but
don't wait too long with your reservations.
Welcome to join us for a great festival of tango!
Teachers - Sebastián Arce & Mariana Montes
Diego "El Pájaro" Riemer & Maria Belén Giachello
Fernando Galera & Vilma Vega
Gunilla Rydén & Henrik Uldall
DJs - Mario Orlando
Bachar Bitar
Riku Kotiranta
Orchestra - Mala Pinta
But of course there's also classes and workshops. Unlike other large
festivals — for Tango 59° is a large festival — the teaching groups
are smaller than usual. At Tango 59°, all package groups consist of a
maximum of 12 couples — so that the teachers will have time to attend
to you personally. Also, our packages allow you to study with the same
teachers during multiple sessions during the festival. And of course,
you can choose which teachers you want to study with. It's entirely up
to you.
We also offer workshops with all our teachers, should you want to
study a particular aspect of tango that interests you. Even the
workshop groups are smaller than at other festivals. A maximum of 15
couples per workshop allows direct student/teacher interaction.
