"It was the dancing...When my little boy Dimitri
died
and everybody was crying
Me, I got up and I danced.
They said, "Zorba is mad." But it was the
dancing only the dancing that stopped the pain."
Zorba, in "Zorba the Greek" by Nikos Kazantzakis
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen of Tango,
I am sending this for those dancers that are
planning to arrive this weekend for the Denver
Memorial Day Festival that will begin next week.
We invite you to join us dancing this Sunday, May
18, 2008, 5-9PM, at the Restaurant Little
Europe. It is Milonga Sans Souci and it is your
chance to be a part of something very old, very
precious and passionate. Milonga Sans Souci
honors all of the traditional codes of conduct -
el cabeceo, separate seating arrangement, and the best music.
At this milonga, we honor Argentine tango. We
honor the embrace... and its sublime, hearbreaking poetry...
We honor the singers, the musicians, the
orchestras, and all of the men and women that
have carried the dance to us through the decades
of Argentine history. We show our grattitude to
them and to each other by honoring the
traditional codes of conduct that allowed the
dance to thrive, and that allowed men and women
to share a few fleeting moments in each other's precious embrace.
We are delighted that our DJ for the evening will
be the incomparable Mr. Ruddy Zelaya!
The Restaurant Little Europe will begin to serve
dinner at 4PM. If you plan to have dinner with
friends, please call the restaurant to make a
reservation. This restaurant is an amazing
little place with incredible Mediterranean and
Russian cuisine. You will also be able to have dinner after the milonga.
