Angeles Chanaha & Michael Nadtochi are extraordinary New York City based
teachers and performers:
Angeles was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She started dancing at the
age of 5, and studied a wide variety of dance styles,
concentrating on Argentine Tango. She has performed with two of the most
famous Tango dancers in the world - Miguel Angel Zotto, creator of Tango
X Dos, and Carlos Gavito, Tony Award Winner from the Broadway hit
Forever Tango.
She has also performed on stage with the renowned singer Julio Iglesias
and has been featured on national TV, in international films,
commercials and fashion magazines, all related to tango.
Angeles has been involved in the Buenos Aires International Tango
Festival since 1998, which is the world’s largest annual tango event
attracting the best dancers from all over the world. She has also
performed in multiple shows in Latin and South America, including the
most prestigious Tango show in Argentina “Senor Tango”. Angeles has
danced for “Los Cosos de al Lao” at Buenos Aires’
famous “Cafe Tortoni” , and in 2003 created and choreographed the very
popular tango show “Tango en los Andes” for the “Che Tango Company” in
Mendoza, Argentina. Angeles uniquely expresses sensuality and elegance,
epitomizing
the woman’s lyrical character in Tango. She now lives and teaches in New
York City.
Michael started dancing at the age of ten in Moscow, Russia, and dance
has been the main focus of his life ever since.
By the age of eighteen he was a successful performer/competitor in the
global dance scene, winning the title of Russian Youth Champion in 1994
and representing his country in a World Championship. Throughout his
career, Michael received one-on-one coaching with European and World
Champions Allan Tornsberg and Vibeke Toft where he learned the ‘secrets
of champions’, which produced a strong foundation for performance in
dramatic competitions and for teaching students.
He traveled and performed throughout Europe, earning international
recognition before moving in to the U.S. A., winning the title of “Top
U.S. National Dance Couple of the Year” in 2000.
Focusing on authentic Latin and South American rhythms, Michael studied
Salsa with the legendary Eddie Torres and Argentine Tango with Carlos
Gavito, the star of “Forever Tango”. He has appeared on stage, in
commercials (Verizon, American
Express) industrial films, has been featured on “The Guiding Light” TV
series, in the off-Broadway show “Latin Fusion” and has performed with
the “Fania All Stars”. He lives and teaches in New York City.
