Dear Tang residents,
Interested in getting more involved with the graduate student community at MIT while also securing your housing for the next year? Tang Hall Residents' Association (THRA), the student government at Tang Hall, is looking for new members for the term May 2017 - May 2018. This time, we have the following open positions (the ones where we are specifically seeking applicants for have been highlighted) :
Vice President (1 position)
Treasurer (1 position)
Social Chairs (4 positions)
Sports Chairs (1 positions)
IT Chair (1 position)
Purchasing and Maintenance Chair (1 position)
Gardening & Recycling Chair ( 1 position)
You can find details of the organizational structure of THRA and officer responsibilities here<http://tang.mit.edu/tang-hall-residents-association/positions-and-responsibilities/>. All open positions will be filled by general voting by all Tang residents.
If you'd like to contribute in developing the Tang community, please fill out this form<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdvfXYyy2ebbFN7TfoeLhOoQfCD2H3aURx8H1kFQcmZYz7NDw/viewform?usp=send_form> by noon, Sunday, April 2nd, 2017. Only full MIT graduate students who will be in MIT till May 2018 should apply. If you are interested in a specific position that's not open, please write to us.
We will be hosting a Coffee Hour on Tuesday, April 4th, 8-10 pm on the 24th floor lounge, Tang Hall where you can pitch your ideas in front of Tang residents. Please note that it is important to attend this as it is your only chance to interact with Tang residents directly before voting begins. The campaigning and election rules will be communicated to prospective candidates after all nominations have been received.
It is mandatory for the elected board members to participate in the annual THRA Retreat, which will be held around May 20th.
Why: Several perks!
1. You get to select your own room in Tang - no hassle of entering the housing lottery.
2. You get to shape Tang's social and sports scenes - introduce new events and initiate new policies to improve the lives of graduate students.
3. You acquire important leadership skills which will prepare you for your life beyond MIT.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to tang-government at mit.edu<mailto:tang-government at mit.edu>.
Best,
THRA
