Pedestrians will not be allowed on Memorial Drive and Vassar Street.  They should proceed to Waverly Street and Albany Street and out to Mass Ave.

Hi, Larry:

Not sure if you're the right person for this but I am organizing a meeting with about ten out-of-town guests tomorrow at the Dept. of Urban Studies and Planning. I believe they'll be staying at the Hyatt over on the west end of campus. I'm wondering if they'll be able to make it across Mass. Ave. and walk on to campus without too much trouble. There's a chance that they'll be carrying their luggage as well, which I suppose could be a security issue.

Any thoughts on how I can figure this out? Wondering if we'll need to move our meeting.

Restrictions in place for the Memorial Ceremony for Officer Sean Collier

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – April 23, 2013 – The Cambridge Police Department is announcing the following road closures ahead of the memorial service taking place on MIT’s campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts on Wednesday, April 24, 2013:

  *   Vassar Street:

     *   Closed beginning at 6 a.m. on Wednesday, April 24 between Audrey St. and Massachusetts Ave.

  *   Massachusetts Avenue:

     *   Closed from Albany St. toward Boston beginning at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, April 24.

  *   Memorial Drive:

     *   Closed beginning at 12 a.m. on Wednesday, April 24 between Massachusetts Ave. and the B.U. Bridge.
     *   There will be no parking on Memorial Drive between Massachusetts Ave. and the B.U. Bridge on Wednesday, April 24

  *   Massachusetts Avenue Bridge into Cambridge closed beginning at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, April 24.

These road closures are going to have a major impact on traffic in the city.  Police are asking residents to plan ahead, seek alternate routes, and use public transportation whenever possible.
