Dear Tang Residents;
On Tuesday May 17th, a resident of Tang Hall found an unfired bullet on an upper floor by the elevator. I am writing to remind all students that weapons and ammunition are not permitted on MIT property. Please reference Housing policies as seen below: http://housing.mit.edu/about/policies_procedures_residences#Weapons
Weapons
The following weapons are prohibited on all MIT property, including residences.
• hunting knives, switchblades, swords, and other dangerous blades
• firearms, air rifles, air pistols, and ammunition
If you wish to bring firearms onto MIT property, you are required by law to obtain permission from the chief of the MIT Police. All firearms must also be licensed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
The bullet was immediately turned over to MIT police and a report was filed. If anyone has any questions regarding this incident, please contact Detective Craig Martin at Campus police.
Thank you.
Michael Collins
