Dear Colleagues,
MIT is monitoring the progress of Hurricane Irene. This category 3 hurricane has the potential to generate strong winds and rain in our area. MIT Facilities, Housing, Campus Activities, Events, EHS and other departments are preparing our campus for potentially disruptive conditions that may result from this storm. Because you may have concerns about how to prepare for this hurricane, below are links and other information that should be helpful.
Close doors and windows
We ask your assistance to please make sure that all windows and doors are shut securely. If you notice any door or window that is not closed properly, please report the location by calling our Customer Service Center at x3-4948 and press 2 on the voice mail tree.
Report issues
You can use the Building Services SAPWeb page to report issues: http://web.mit.edu/sapweb/PS1/facilities_home.shtml . Use the "Residence Halls" tab for dormitories and the "Buildings" tab for all other buildings. You can also use Facilities' Bldg Services module within MIT Mobile.
Outside waste receptacles
All exterior trash and recycle bins that are not bolted down will be moved inside the closest building entrance. They will be emptied and covered for the weekend.
Parking on campus
All campus resident parkers have card access to indoor parking garages and are encouraged to move their vehicles inside this weekend.
MIT Shuttles
Saferide service will run as scheduled unless a state of emergency is declared by Governor Patrick or the roads become impassible.
MIT Alerts
If you haven't done so already, sign up for MIT Alerts http://emergency.mit.edu/mitalert/ to receive notifications about major emergencies on campus.
