Subject: Preparations for Hurricane Earl
Dear Colleagues,
MIT is monitoring the progress of Hurricane Earl. This category 4 hurricane has the potential to generate strong winds and rain in our area. MIT Facilities, Housing, Campus Activities, Events, EHS and other departments are preparing our campus for potentially disruptive conditions that may result from this event. In the meantime, laboratories and other research and work areas may have localized concerns relative to preparing for this hurricane. Below are links with information on how you can prepare for this event.
Close doors and windows
We ask your assistance to please make sure that all windows and doors are shut securely. If you notice any door or window that is not closed properly, please report the location by calling our Customer Service Center at x3-4948 and press 2 on the voice mail tree.
Building Services SAPWeb page
You can also use the Building Services SAPWeb page to report building issues: http://web.mit.edu/sapweb/PS1/facilities_home.shtml . Use the "Residence Halls" tab for dormitories and the "Buildings" tab for all other buildings.
Emergency Information website
Information can be obtained on the Emergency Information website: http://emergency.mit.net/emergency/ The emergency webpage also has links to the National Hurricane Center, MEMA and FEMA on the "MIT Preparedness" subpage http://web.mit.edu/mit-emergency/institute/ .
