[Tang-residents] Campus telephone changes

To all students in MIT residential housing:

Effective  August 22 for graduate student housing and Sept 12 for 
undergraduate housing, the room phone will be restricted to placing and 
receiving only campus calls, e.g., Campus Police, Medical, other dorms, 
faculty and staff.

You have the option to pay for an upgrade to full service, which includes 
the ability to place unlimited local calls and receive off-campus calls, as 
well as voice mail. The monthly cost is $17, with a $25 activation fee 
(which will be waived if you sign up by September 10, 2005).
To signup for full service, contact PAETEC: 
https://www.campuslink.paetec.com/ Select 'sign up for service' on the left 
hand side.

Prior to September 10, if you know you want full service, but you do not 
yet know your dorm phone number, you may still sign up for full service, 
and the service will be activated once you provide your dorm phone number 
to telecom-csr at mit.edu.  (After September 10, you must provide a dorm phone 
number in your order.)

If you upgrade your phone service, you will also have the option of adding 
PAETEC long distance/international service with competitive rates.  When 
you register with this service (also known as Campuslink), you will get a 
Personal Billing Number (PBN).  Your PBN can also be used like a calling 
card from a phone other than your room.
