Dear friends,
We have some bad news. Due to insufficient riders (~13), we are forced to
cancel the upcoming trip to Waterville. We apologize to those who had
signed up.
This, as you will know, is yet another cancellation. Unless we get about 30
riders on a trip, the math does not work out (without substantial increase
in the price). Moreover, when we cancel a trip, Snowriders has to pay a
cancellation fee to Ticketing at MIT. Over the last couple years, we have
witnessed a waning of interest in skiing and riding at MIT, at least as
seen in the number of people signing up for MIT Snowriders trips. It is not
limited to Snowriders. This has also been seen in falling participation in
the annual MIT GSC Ski Trip. Since we feel bad for canceling trips, and
cancellation has happened quite frequently of late, we are considering
putting the next trips on hold. Snowriders is not closing down. We need to
re-strategize and re-calibrate our schedule/plan.
In the meantime, for those interested in heading up to the slopes, we
suggest using the MIT Snowriders Facebook group page
<https://www.facebook.com/groups/149936985037443/> to find rides/folks.
Also, do not hesitate to write to us at sr-officers at mit.edu with ideas for
generating more interest, or if you need advice and such. Finally, we urge
you to get involved. If interested, write to us!
Happy skiing and riding!
with love,
Team Snowriders
