New England College Pass (Season Pass)
=============================================
This is the *last week* we're selling the New England College Pass and
membership to the Snowriders Ski House at Sunday River, ME. We will be
selling the passes at our discounted price until November 30th. This is
one of the many ways in which our club attempts to make skiing and
snowboarding more accessible to the MIT community. Both the College Pass
and the house membership are significantly discounted for *current MIT
Students* (undergraduate or graduate, but not postdocs or alumns).
The new england college pass gives you *unlimited* lift access at Sunday
River, Loon, and Sugarloaf (all of the Boyne resorts in NE). Unlimited
meaning no blackout dates. The Snowriders price is $324 cash/check. A
one day lift ticket at Sunday River is around $70, so the season pass is
roughly the cost of 5 lift tickets. Snowriders will be going on at least
4 Boyne Resort trips this season, and you can use your pass on these
trips (meaning you only have to pay for the bus!). Furthemore,
season-pass holders can use their pass on the GSC Ski trip. The cost of
the GSC trip is $90 less for season pass holders. You can find out the
details of the pass at
http://www.sundayriver.com/TicketsPasses/Season_Passes.html
If you buy directly from Boyne, the College Pass is $349 (but only until
Nov 30). If you buy it from Snowriders, it's only $324. If you're
wondering how we get the discount, we're registered as a reseller from
Boyne. They usually kickback a free pass when you sell a certain number,
but we've arranged to amortize that reward and just sell each pass for
less (yes, that does mean that the club is not making any revenue)! You
can check out more details and download the pass application at the
season pass page (http://snowriders.mit.edu/passes.php). Note that the
pass application says $349, but don't worry, you only have to pay $324.
Email sr-seasonpasses at mit.edu to meet with our treasurer and buy your
pass.
The snowriders ski houses is located just 2 miles from Sunday River
resort. There is a shuttle bus from Sunday river that stops right at the
end of the road just a short walk from the house, so drivers can even
leave their vehicle at the house while they go ski.
If you buy a season pass from Snowriders, a student membership to the
ski house will be the same cost ($324). You get *twelve* nights at the
ski house. The regular cost for in-season lodging at Sunday River is
around $200 a night (for a two bedroom suite). The house membership
makes up a wonderful community, and if you're interested in a house
membership but don't have a car, it's very easy to hitch a ride up with
other members. Check out the details for the house at the ski house page
(http://snowriders.mit.edu/skihouse/), and email sr-skihouse at mit if you
have any questions.
