Greetings Snowriders:
For our next trip, we will be going to Cannon Mountain in New Hamshire.
This is yet another east coast favorite. One person's description of
Cannon:
PROS: Big Drop, Mix of Terrain, Big Mountain Skiing, Nifty Tram,
Excellent Customer Service
CONS (or PRO, depending on how you look at it): Upper mountain can be
intimidating to people afraid of heights or exposure
BOTTOM LINE: Anyone looking for an authentic downhill skiing experience
will find it with Cannon Mountain, as Cannon harks back to when skiing
meant big drops with great skiing and little else.
The mountain stats speak for themselves:
Summit: 4080'
Vertical: 2180'
Trails/Glades: 72 + back country
Snowmaking: 97%
With 20" fresh snow in the past week, more projected in the next week
and snow making, we predict that this will be a very fun day to ski. It
may be cold, although current temps are ranging in the upper twenties to
lower thirties.
The visit to Cannon will follow the usual procedure:
1) Tickets must be purchased by Wednesday March 3rd, 12pm.
2) Bus will depart Sidpac by *5:30am*
3) Should return home by 7pm
Please note that we as organizers have a hard deadline on March 3rd at
12pm. If we have too many empty seats at that time we will have to
cancel the trip, like we did last week. There were more than enough
people who requested to join the trip on Wednesday AFTER the 12pm
deadline that we actually could have run the trip (and since Sunday
River has 2 feet of powder on the ground today, it would have been
incredible!). If you would like to join this trip please, please, please
make sure you sign up by 12pm on Wednesday.
Cost:
Bus: $27
Bus+Lift: $72
Bus+Lift+Rental: $107
We will again be offering graduate student subsidies of $25 for the
first 20 graduate students to sign up. Please note that if you use the
subsidy and do not attend the trip or find a person to exchange your
seat with, you will be asked to repay the subsidy.
See you guys on the slopes!
