[Snowriders] Snowriders Update, 10/16/06

Greetings Snowriders!

Well it took a while, but that fall chill is finally in the air, and that means
that the first snowfall of the season can't be too far behind (and in fact,
reports from the north say snow has already been sighted).  This is go time
for Snowriders, and we officers hope you're as excited as we are!

With that in mind, we want to share a few announcements so you can be ready when
the snow flies and our first bus heads north.

1.  Season Pass Sales

As a reminder, sales of All East College passes are going on now--but will be
ending in the near future, so make sure you get yours soon!  Both the full and
limited passes are available from our sales booth in Lobby 10, and also online
at http://snowriders.mit.edu/passes.php.  The remaining times for Lobby 10
sales are:

Tuesday, October 17, 2006         11AM - 2PM
Thursday, October 19, 2006         2PM - 5PM

Passes are available for purchase online until October 24th, 2006, but remember
that a $5 credit card transaction fee applies (you can avoid this by purchasing
with a check at our booth).  For prices and other details, see our website.

Oh, and by the way--everyone who buys a season pass this year will automatically
be entered into a drawing for a $60 gift certificate to Ski Market!  We'll
announce the winner after the conclusion of pass sales.  Good luck!

2.  Ski Market Discount Night

Back by popular demand, we have made arrangements with the folks at Ski Market
to offer MIT students special discounts for one night only!  This event will
take place on Wednesday, November 8th from 9-11pm.  There will be a 20%
discount on everything in the store, and an extra 10% discount on clearance
items.  Please note that this event occurs after normal business hours, and is
open to MIT students only--you must bring your MIT ID with you and present it
at the door.  But it's a heck of a great deal, so we hope to see you there!

Ski Market is located at 860 Commonwealth Ave in Boston, which is right next to
the St. Paul Street stop on the B Branch of the Green Line (just west of BU).

3.  Ski House Rental

Final details are still in process, but we want to remind you that we will again
be offering shares of a ski house at Sunday River near Bethel, Maine.  The
approximate buy-in will be between $500 and $700 per person and include all
utilities of the season. Total member buy-in will be limited to between 10 and
20 people depending upon the chosen property and interest level.  We will send
final details in a future e-mail, but please contact Alvar (alvarso at mit.edu) if
you are interested at this time.

4. Warren Miller Night

Again, we are still working on the final details, but we also want to make you
aware of our upcoming Warren Miller movie night.  This will be hosted by
Snowriders and Sunday River.  It's a great way to get pumped up for the new
season, and it's also an effective training video for all you hardcore skiers
out there...

5. Contest Winners!

At Snowriders, we like our members so much that we decided to have a contest for
you, simply for signing up with us (yes, we're just that cool).  Our webmaster
extraordinaire Gevorg has used his arcane computer know-how to select one
Snowriders member at random to win a pair of lift tickets to Sunday River.  And
the winner is...

Amber Houghstow!

6. Season Kickoff Party

Last but not least (and also to make sure you read to the end), Snowriders will
be hosting a Season Kickoff Party on November 30th from 6-8 pm at MIT's
favorite watering hole, the Thirsty Ear Pub.  It'll be a great way--for those
of you 21 and older, of course--to meet and greet your fellow Snowriders, and
the perfect forum to tell exaggerated extreme skiing stories.  We will have
complimentary pizza and soft drinks for you, and the Ear's normal libations
will also be available for purchase.  Mark your calendars...

This event is brought to you by the Graduate Student Council.
