Hi, all,

For those who might be interested: I have been working with a terrific composer, Spencer Bambrick, a member of the faculty at Berklee School of Music, who has written an original piece for string quartet inspired by quantum physics. In particular, the final movement of the piece is a beautiful rendition of my group’s “Cosmic Bell” test of quantum entanglement<https://news.mit.edu/2018/light-ancient-quasars-helps-confirm-quantum-entanglement-0820>, which we conducted a few years ago together with Nobel laureate Anton Zeilinger and his group.

Spencer and I debuted his piece last April in a small venue at Harvard, and we are very excited to bring a reprise performance in MIT’s beautiful Thomas Tull Concert Hall in our new Linde Music Building (W18).

The “Quantum Concert” will be held on Friday, November 6th, at 7pm.

You can learn more about the concert and the “Multiverse Concert Series” below. Here is the link to purchase “Pay What You Wish” tickets: https://events.humanitix.com/quantum-concert .

I hope you will be able to join us for this fun art-science collaboration -

best,
Dave

Dear Members of the Multiverse,

After the success of last season's show, we're thrilled to invite you to the second ever Quantum Concert - diving deep into realms of science that question the nature of our reality...

QUANTUM CONCERT at MIT
with the Multierse Quartet

Thomas Tull Auditorium, MIT

November 6th, 7:00 PM
Join David I. Kaiser, Professor of Physics, author, and Germeshausen Professor of the History of Science at M.I.T. as he shares his work on The Cosmic Bell Test and the origin of structure in our universe. Audiences will be invited to join in the excitement of his groundbreaking Cosmic Bell Experiment, which uses light from ancient quasars to test quantum theory. New music for string quartet will be performed live, sounding quantum behaviors and dramatizing the Cosmic Bell Experiment. Each piece explores a different aspect of quantum physics, from Heisenberg’s thoughts on the beauty of the mathematics, all the way to the Big Bang and the large-scale structure of our universe.

Featuring the innaugural performance of the Multiverse Quartet!
Multiverse Concerts entice you to wonder, question the world around you, delve deeply into new realms of thought - and leave you with new perspectives on our evolving world.

We hope these experiences can continue to open new worlds for you.

Yours,
David Ibbett
