Dear all,
I hope you are staying well at this official start to fall! The co-conveners of the Seminar on Environmental and Agricultural History (SEAH), including Kate Brown, Tristan Brown, Deborah Fitzgerald, Harriet Ritvo, and myself, want to invite you to attend our 2021-2022 speaker series.
As usual, these conversations will take place on Friday afternoons from 2:30-4:30 and feature scholars presenting on new and ongoing research. The events this fall will be Zoom meetings, and our hope is that the spring meetings can take place in person. This year, SEAH will feature the following speakers and topics:
10/15 Tony Perry, history of slavery and environmental knowledge in antebellum Maryland (Zoom)
11/05 Bartow Elmore, history of Monsanto and ecological impacts of agrochemical industries (Zoom)
11/12 Bernadette Pérez, history of migrant and sugar beet workers in the US West (Zoom)
12/03 Jay Turner, history of batteries and their life-cycle from extraction to disposal (Zoom)
02/25 Caterina Scaramelli, anthropology of wetlands in Turkey (hopefully in person)
03/11 Victor Seow, history of energy regimes in East Asia (hopefully in person)
Please watch for invitations to register for the fall events, as well as advertisements for individual talks, from the amazing Kathleen Lopes.
Take care everyone,
Megan
